Kolkata Doctor’s Father Receives Ominous Call On August 9: ‘Might Have Died By Suicide’
The parents of a Kolkata doctor, who was raped and murdered on August 9 inside RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, received three distressing calls from a hospital employee on the night of the crime. The man refused to disclose details about the 31-year-old woman's condition during these calls.

In the first call, the assistant superintendent urgently requested the parents to come to the hospital, stating their daughter was unwell. When pressed for more information, he mentioned she was being admitted and that doctors would provide further details upon their arrival.
Details of the Calls
During the second call, the caller informed them that her condition had become very critical. Despite repeated inquiries from her father, no specific information was given about what had happened to her.
In the third call, the staff member nervously suggested that she might have committed suicide or died. He added that police were present at the hospital and reiterated that they should come immediately.
Incident and Arrest
The doctor had been on a 36-hour shift and went to rest in the seminar hall when Sanjay Roy allegedly attacked her. Her autopsy confirmed she was raped and murdered. Police arrested Roy based on CCTV footage showing him entering the seminar hall at 4:03 am on August 9.
The autopsy revealed 25 internal and external injuries on her body. The Supreme Court criticised Sandip Ghosh, ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, for attempting to label the incident as a suicide.
Junior doctors held a protest rally over this tragic event. They demanded justice for their colleague and highlighted concerns about safety within medical institutions.
The case has drawn significant attention, with many questioning how such an incident could occur within a hospital's premises. The investigation continues as authorities seek to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.
