Know your state this LS poll: Haryana

Chandigarh, March 28: The Lok sabha election is set to begin on April 7 and will continue till May 12. The results will be declared on May 16. The election will see elections to 543 parliamentary seats across 28 states and seven Union territories (UT).

Election date: April 10

Number of Lok Sabha constituencies: 10

Name of parliamentary constituencies: Ambala, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Hisar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Sirsa, Sonepat

2009 party-wise vote-share: INC- 9, HJC- 1

Total voters this year: Over 1.60 crore electors (87 lakh men and 73 lakh women)

Polling booths: 16,244

First-time voters: 3,49,952 (Gurgaon has highest number of first -time voters- 47,161. Of these 14,144 are women.)

Fact: Haryana will witness an interesting elections this time as unlike previous polls, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has gained momentum in the state, with Yogendra Yadav as the popular face.

The recent spate of twice attacks on the incumbent state Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, may be the red signal of his end in the power race.
