Know which is the safest place for women in India and which is the least

    In the latest report, under Gender Vulnerability Index (GVI) by NGO Plan India has declared that Goa is the safest place for India and Delhi is one of the unsafe places. Kerala, Mizoram, Sikkim, and Manipur are some of the other safest places for a woman in India. The report is analysed on the basis of Protection, Poverty, Education, and Health. The index scores are determined on a scale of zero to 1, and the performance is better when the score is nearer to one.

    According to the list, Goa tops the list in the GVI with a rating of 0.656. The rating was decided on a scale of 0 to 1. Goa also ranked first in protection, fifth in education, sixth in health and survival, and eighth in poverty.

    Goa, Kerala and Mizoram occupy the top three positions. Kerala ranks the second spot with a GVI of 0.634. They did it mainly because of its achievements in health areas.

    With this latest report, Delhi is one of the unsafe place for women. No doubt about that. It ranks at 28 with a GVI score of 0.436 by its poor run of providing security to women. Also, in the lease released by Economist Intelligence Unit, Mumbai and Delhi have been ranked among the most unsafe cities in the world.

    The places where woman are most vulnerable are Bihar, Jharkhand, UP and Delhi. Bihar did worst by achieving a GVI of 0.410. It is considered to be the worst place for a woman in India. The place had a poor record in education and protection. It has been reported that 39 percent of girls in Bihar got married before the legal age, while 12.2 percent teen girls, especially between 15-22, were either mothers or pregnant.
