Barcelona, Nov 21: The Union Minister of India, Venkaiah Naidu, sharing his encounter with a thief in Barcelona said that his passport was stolen in the hotel lobby, just before he wa sleaving for India.
When asked about the incident, Naidu hit back at the media saying that they did not have the facts right. "I lost my passport, but immediately got it back. The thief realized that it was a diplomatic passport and immediately threw it back as he knew he would be caught. But he took the laptop and credit card,"he said while attending the "Social Innovations for Future - Solutions for India Today" summit.
However, the official with the minister wasn't that lucky as his passport was not returned after being stolen. Mr Naidu said,"Because my ambassador was there with me, quickly I could get an emergency passport to my OSD (Officer on Special Duty) so he could come back on time."
