The development comes amidst the tussle over the Supreme Court's Collegium system. Rijiju had said that the Collegium system of appointing of judges was opaque and not transparent.

Earlier Rijiju had made remarks about some retired judges as being part of an anti-India gang. He had received a lot of flak from the opposition leaders for that comment. The opposition leader said that the minister was talking like an 'outlaw' and was propagating injustice.

IN January Rijiju had written a letter to Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud, suggesting the inclusion of a government nominee in the Collegium. This turned out to be a tussle between the Supreme Court and Centre over the delay in appointment of judges to the higher judiciary.

Rijiju took charge of the law ministry in July 2021. A law graduate from Delhi University's Campus Law Centre, he is a three-time Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Rijiju extended his best wishes to Meghwal on his new responsibility. Meghwal on the other hand said that justice should be served to all and the cases pending in the court should be as less as possible.
