Kin bids tearful farewell to Srinivasa Kuchibhotla

Last rites of the Kansas hate crime victim were performed at a crematorium in Jubilee hills of Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The family of Srinivas Kuchibhotla, the Indian engineer who was shot dead in a suspected racial attack in Kansas, bid him a tearful goodbye on Tuesday. He was cremated on Tuesday evening. Some present at the crematorium raised slogans against the Trump administration as his funeral pyre was lit. His mortal remains arrived at Hyderabad on late Monday night following which he was taken to his ancestral home in Bachupally where family members had gathered.

Srinivas' grieving mother was seen telling relatives that she would not let her younger son return to the United States after what happened to Srinivas. The racial attack victim's wife, Sunayana who flew in with his body was numb even as Srinivas' father showed immense courage at the time of great grief. Grieving relatives paid respects as last rites were conducted in Mahaprasthanam crematorium in Jubilee hills.

Politicians including union minister, Bandaru Dattatreya made a beeline to Srinivas' house to pay their last respects. BJP MLA Ramachandra Reddy, former MLC Chokka Ramaiah held placards in protest of the racial attack at Srinivas' residence even as scores of citizens also visited to pay their respects.
