Khamosh! Will That Be Shatrughan Sinha's Retort To BJP's Barb Over TMC Ticket From Asansol

After the TMC released the list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has targeted the party over giving tickets to veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha.

The saffron party has accused that the TMC is "full of rapists." "Meet Shatrughan Sinha, TMC's candidate from Asansol. TMC rank is full of rapists, both in real (likes of Shahjahan Sheikh) and reel life," BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya wrote in a post on X. He also shared an old clip from a rape scene from Sinha's film.

"Surprised Mamata Banerjee didn't ask Shatrughan Sinha to join her on the eve of International Women's Day for the sham women empowerment march," Malviya claimed.

BJP state secretary Priyanka Tibrewal also criticised the TMC's candidate list. He said, "Look at the similarity between the real and reel life heroes of Trinamool. According to Trinamool, real-life heroes are people like Shahjahan- who raped women in Sandeshkhali and no wonder their reel-life heroes are people like Shatrughan Sinha who rapes women in the movies."

"TMC's list when it has come out most of them are tainted. And I say so. Why? Because cases are pending against them. They have given tickets to somebody like Mahua Moitra who was expelled from the parliament. No wonder we'll see similar results in the upcoming years," she stated.

The BJP's response comes after the TMC had targeted the BJP over giving ticket to Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh, who eventually withdrew his candidature from Asansol "due to some reason".

In a major snub to the Congress, the TMC on Sunday released the names of 42 candidates for the Lok Sabha election. Mamata Banerjee-led party will go solo in West Bengal as it refused to get into alliance with its INDIA bloc member.
