Khalistani Leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun Threatens India With 'Hamas-Like Attack'

A newly surfaced video features Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a known figure associated with the banned US-based Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), discussing potential consequences for India. In the video, Pannun issues a warning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing parallels with the Israel-Palestine conflict, and suggesting that similar reactions could occur in India.

Pannun, the leader of SFJ, emphasizes that people living under perceived illegal occupation, spanning from Punjab to Palestine, may react to their situations, emphasizing the cycle of violence begetting more violence. He goes on to state that if India persists in its perceived occupation of Punjab, it could trigger a reaction, for which he holds India and PM Modi accountable.

Pannun claims that SFJ advocates for a democratic approach through "ballot and vote," asserting that the liberation of Punjab is in the offing. He presents India with a choice, between peaceful resolution through ballots or potential violent consequences, accompanied by a hand gesture mimicking a gunshot, captured on camera.

This message from Pannun comes shortly after an FIR was filed against him for issuing threats and promoting enmity in the lead-up to the India-Pakistan ICC World Cup 2023 match in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The threats were disseminated through pre-recorded messages on various social media platforms, according to Cyber Crime DCP of Ahmedabad, Ajit Rajian.

The message also promises that SFJ will seek "revenge" for the murder of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijar in Canada.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, originally from Amritsar, has been under the scrutiny of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) since 2019 when the agency filed its first case against him. He stands accused of actively advocating and orchestrating terror activities and spreading fear and terror in Punjab and other parts of India through his intimidation and threat tactics. Pannun has non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him by the Special NIA Court, and he was declared a "Proclaimed Offender" in November of the previous year.
