Key member of Bangladesh terror module arrested in Assam
Nalbari (Assam), Dec 6: A key member of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) module accused of moving funds to the Burdhwan blasts, Sahanur Alom was arrested at the Nalbari district of Assam by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) on Friday night.
Alom's name had cropped up several times during the NIA's investigation of the Burdhwan case and they had even netted his wife, Sujna last month for her alleged involvement in the case.
Alom who goes by the alias Doctor was allegedly responsible for setting up modules for the JMB in Assam. However the bigger allegation against him was that he had moved money between Assam and Burdhwan to fund the operations of the JMB.
NIA sources said that he also operated several bank accounts into which money was transferred from Bangladesh. The money the NIA suspects was to finance the Burdhwan modules.
After getting credible intelligence, the NIA and the Assam police tracked him down despite Alom moving around in disguise.
With Alom arrested the NIA hopes for more details. Earlier they had arrested his wife Sujna who is accused of creating all women's modules for the JMB. She was also accused of moving money given by her husband between Assam and West Bengal.
