Gulbarg massacre: Key accused who protested slow trial surrenders
New Delhi, June 13: The prime accused in the Gulbarg society masscare case Kailash Lalchand Dhobhi has surrendered before a court.
It may be recalled that he had jumped bail and had even said he would return on judgment day. The court had earlier announced that it would it pronounce the verdict on the quantum of sentence on June 17.

The court had convicted 24 persons in connection with this case. Dhobi who was in jail for 14 years had been granted bail. He was earlier this year granted bail on health grounds. However he failed to surrender.
Instead he had written to the Gujarat High Court that he would return on the day the trial court pronounces its verdict. The reason behind him jumping bail was in protest against the lengthy trial in the case. He felt that the case had dragged on for too long.
Dhobi who was arrested on March 6 2002 has been in jail since. He had applied for bail thrice, but denied on the ground that the charges against him were serious in nature.
