The police say that all these persons belong to the PFI. The signals are worrying, an officer with the Intelligence Bureau said. In all the police state that there are 648 persons. Sources in the Intelligence Bureau say that out of the 648 who are missing 297 are women. While not all cases are suspicious in nature, central agencies do not rule out the possibility of many having joined foreign terrorist outfits.

Terrorism however is not the only issue in the case of these missing persons. Authorities have also been told that some of them could have even been sentenced to death in the Gulf on charges of drug trafficking. Such information is not forthcoming since most of these traffickers travel on fake passports and hence their relatives get no information about them.

The recent problem to haunt Kerala is that of Love Jihad. The NIA which is probing one such case says that it may not be an isolated one. It appears to be a sustained and coordinated racket involving a large number of people from the state.

The latest development comes in the backdrop of the NIA submitting a report to the Union Home Ministry about the PFI. The ministry was contemplating a ban on the PFI after the report suggested that some of its members could be involved in acts of terror.
