Sports trainee commits suicide after scolding for keeping mobile
Kozhikode, Oct 7: In a shocking incident in Kozhikode, athlete Resnamol K S committed suicide as she was reprimanded over keeping a phone in her hostel room. Just a few days later, the 17-year old trainee committed suicide by hanging herself at the Wayanad District Sports Council centre in Kalpetta (Kerala).
According to hostel regulations, students are not allowed to keep mobile phones in the hostel. Kalpetta sub inspector Rama Unni said Resnamol's coach Talib found the hostel room door closed and the girl hanging. Resnamol K S had won a triple bronze medal and the national inter-club amateur championship recently.
According to reports, she had stayed back in the hostel room on Tuesday after the morning practice session as she did not have classes. But her colleagues had gone to school, which is when the incident happened.
The SI said,"As she gave conflicting replies, the coach telephoned the girl's mother and intimated it to her. Later Resnamol's mother called her up and she was found hanging soon after the telephone conversation."
The body has been sent for post-mortem to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
