Kerala Rains: Orange Alert Issued As Low Pressure Likely To Form In Arabian Sea
The persistent heavy rainfall in Kerala is expected to persist due to the formation of a new weather system in the Arabian Sea. Kerala has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall due to the impact of a cyclonic circulation originating in Tamil Nadu. Presently, another cyclonic circulation has emerged in the Arabian Sea. This new weather system is likely to lead to the development of a low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea by around October 17th.

On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow and orange alert for the 14 districts in the state.
A Yellow alert has been issued to Kasargod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Mallapuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Idukki. An Orange alert has also been issued to Alapuzzha, Pathanamthitta, Kollam and thiruvananthapuram.
Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram recorded 118.4 mm rainfall till 8.30 am.
The Southern Railways announced that the departure of the Thiruvananthapuram-New Delhi Kerala Express train had been rescheduled at 19.35 hrs.
The announcement stated,''Train no. 12625 Thiruvananthapuram- New Delhi Kerala Exp scheduled to depart Thiruvananthapuram at 12.30 hrs of (16.10.2023) is rescheduled to leave at 19.35 hrs* due to water not receded yet after flooding at Kochuveli pit line following heavy rains.''
