Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil Taken into Police Custody After Third Rape Complaint

Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, an expelled Congress leader, has been taken into police custody after a third rape complaint was filed against him. Police detained Rahul Mamkootathil on Friday following a fresh complaint received via email, which alleges sexual assault and related offences.

Officials confirmed that the latest action comes even as Rahul Mamkootathil had earlier secured anticipatory bail in two separate rape cases. In connection with the new complaint, a special investigation team is currently questioning him in Pathanamthitta district as part of an expanded probe.

The complainant claims that Rahul Mamkootathil told her marriage would be easier if she became pregnant. She further alleges that after the pregnancy, he pressured her to terminate it and raised doubts about the paternity of the unborn child.

The complaint states that the emotional stress and pressure allegedly exerted by Rahul Mamkootathil led to a miscarriage. It also accuses him of seeking financial favours during the course of the relationship.
