Kerala Congress Seeks Help From Railway Minister And Amitabh Bachchan Over Train Overcrowding

The Kerala Congress has accused Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw of ignoring their appeals to increase the number of trains to ease overcrowding. On Thursday, the party shared a video of an overpacked train from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The video, posted on social media, tagged Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan.

The post began, "Dear Amitabh Bachchan..." and detailed the plight of ordinary people forced to travel in crowded trains. The compartment in the video showed passengers struggling with the heat, using plastic fans to cool down. The message highlighted that it was 52 degrees Celsius in North India.

Kerala Congress criticised the Centre for not increasing the number of trains proportionate to the country's population growth. They pointed out that while the population grew by 14 crore in the past decade, train services did not see a similar increase. The party noted that several Vande Bharat trains had low occupancy, despite being added to the fleet.

The party expressed frustration that their requests to Railway Minister Vaishnaw were ignored. They claimed that the minister responds quickly to issues raised by affluent individuals and celebrities but neglects common people's concerns. The Kerala Congress then explained their reason for reaching out to Amitabh Bachchan.

The party requested Bachchan's help, citing his influence and dedication to social causes. They urged him to tweet about the overcrowding problem to draw attention and hopefully inspire action. They believe his support could bring much-needed awareness to the situation and prompt a response.

The video and its message have sparked discussions on social media, with many users expressing their agreement with the Kerala Congress's concerns. There is hope that the involvement of a prominent figure like Amitabh Bachchan could lead to positive changes in the railway system.
