Kerala Congress severs ties with UDF, walks out of a three-and-half decade relation

Charalkunnu, Aug 8: Breaking a three-and-half year old tie with UDF, K M Mani and his party Kerala Congress (M) walked out of their relation on Sunday.

The party will take an independent stand and its six MLAswill be sitting in a separate block in the state assembly.

Meanwhile, Mani ruled out joining the LDF or the NDA, but is likely to back issue-based support to the UPA at the centre.

The alliance would be maintained in the local self-government and cooperative bodies.

Party leaders say that the entity will be reorganised from the grass root level. A committee will be held on August 14 in Kottayam that will take decisions regarding the future programmes of the party.
