A bandh has been called in Kerala's Alappuzha on Sunday by Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) & Kerala Students Union (KSU) following clashes which broke out between the two groups on Saturday as they alleged each other of destroying their flags and festoons during a march.

The violence erupted after DYFI activists alleged that the flags and festoons of CPM and DYFI were destroyed during the march taken out by KSU as part of its Samara Kahalam programme.
During the clash, CPM and DYFI activists even burnt flags and festoons of KSU.
