Arvind Kejriwal using govt machinery for publicity of AAP: BJP

New Delhi, Aug 21: Alleging that copies of a letter were distributed by Delhi Jal Board in unauthorised colonies requesting people to take new water and sewer connections, BJP today accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of "misusing" the government machinery for publicising his Aam Aadmi Party.

Vijender Gupta, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, also alleged that the government's letter pad was used to thank the public for bringing the Aam Aadmi Party to power with such a huge majority.

"No party can use the government machinery for political use. But the Kejriwal government has overlooked this important decorum and established rule.

Copies of the letter is being distributed in thousands through officials of Delhi Jal Board. It is against rules to do publicity for a political party through government instrument," Gupta said.

In the letter carrying a signature of the Chief Minister, the government is appealing to residents of unauthorised colonies to take new water and sewer connection as it has slashed development charges till September 25.

Delhi Government, however, denied the allegations as "baseless".

"These are baseless allegations. The letter only carries work done by the government and encourages people to avail the government's schemes. Opposition should devote their energy in some constructive criticism," a government spokesperson said.
