New Delhi, Feb 12: This news may give a big shock to lakhs of Aam Aadmi Party supporters who recently voted for the party in Delhi assembly election. Read more- Delhi poll: 91 with criminal background, 186 crorepatis lost
They may not have any idea that many of the party candidates who were recently elected by their support, have tainted record.
According to an ADR report, out of 70 elected MLAs this time, 24 have criminal cases declared against them.

Most surprising thing is, 23 out of 24 MLAs belong to AAP, which has an image of an honest and clean party.
Only 1 belongs to BJP, a party which was completely outshined by the fledgling party on every front in the historic election.
The report further says that this time 91 out of 673 candidates with criminal cases, lost the Assembly election. This includes 60 candidates with serious criminal cases like murder, attempt to murder, crimes against women.
Candidates with criminal cases who lost the elections include 21 INC candidates, 26 BJP candidates, 12 BSP candidates and 1 AAP candidate.
In last Assembly election in 2013, 25 MLAs had declared criminal cases against themselves. Before that, in 2008 Delhi Assembly polls, 29 out of 68 MLAs had declared criminal cases.
Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal led AAP came to power with thumping victory over giant BJP in Delhi election. Voters gave BJP a big lesson that they can't be taken for granted by any party. After registering series of victories- first in Lok Sabha and then State elections, BJP's juggernaut was stopped by Kejriwal's party. The saffron party had to satisfy themselves with only 3 seats while AAP got unbelievable number of 67.
