Arvind Kejriwal Leads Colorful Roadshow for Delhi Election Campaign

A sea of yellow and blue flags, blaring music, and a narrow lane packed with people marked the commencement of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's first roadshow for the election campaign in South Delhi. This event took place a day after his release from Tihar jail. The vibrant scenes were replicated at Kejriwal's second roadshow in East Delhi's Krishna Nagar, rallying support for AAP candidate Kuldeep Kumar.

Kejriwals Delhi Election Roadshow

Kejriwal initiated his election campaign on Saturday in South Delhi's Mehrauli area following his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court on Friday. He campaigned for AAP's Sahiram Pahalwan, contesting from the constituency. The arrival of Kejriwal's convoy was met with enthusiasm, as children stood on the rooftop of a monument holding posters with welcoming messages.

Buses filled with AAP supporters from across Delhi converged for the roadshow. The crowd was diverse, including a significant number of women with toddlers and elderly individuals, all showing their support for Kejriwal and flaunting party flags. As the convoy made its way through Mehrauli market's narrow lanes, local shopkeepers stepped out to catch a glimpse of the chief minister.

Cultural performances added to the festive atmosphere, with groups performing pahadi musical dance, bhangra, and pandits playing traditional instruments. A man painted with the tricolour danced to dhol beats, celebrating Kejriwal's release.

Kejriwal is on interim bail until June 1 to participate in the Lok Sabha election campaign. He faces charges in an excise policy-linked money laundering case and was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21.

During his address to the public for the third time since his release, Kejriwal expressed his eagerness to reconnect with the people of Delhi. He recounted the "miracle" of his bail granted by the Supreme Court and thanked those who prayed for his return. Kejriwal reflected on his arrest, questioning the fault in serving the poor through initiatives like building schools and hospitals.

Kejriwal also highlighted a personal challenge he faced in jail, being denied insulin for 15 days despite his diabetic condition. The crowd responded with supportive slogans for him and AAP. Many attendees sought personal interaction, extending their hands for a shake or offering gifts, including a photo frame depicting Kejriwal's release from jail.

The main market in Mehrauli was adorned with large posters of Kejriwal, symbolizing his release from jail. He was joined by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP's South Delhi candidate Sahiram Pahalwan during this event. Mann took the opportunity to appeal to the public for their votes.

In Arvind Kejriwal's absence, his wife Sunita Kejriwal led several roadshows supporting AAP candidates, demonstrating the party's collective effort and resilience amidst challenging times.
