Central Ordinance Is An Insult To People Of Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday lashed out at the Centre over its ordinance on control of services in the national capital, saying Delhi is the first to be attacked and similar ordinances will also be brought for other states.

Addressing a massive rally at the Ramlila Maidan, Kejriwal alleged that the Centre's Ordinance was an insult to the people of Delhi that elected the Government.

"There will be a dictatorship in Delhi and the LG (lieutenant governor) is supreme. People can vote for whoever they want, but the Centre will run Delhi," Kejriwal said.

"I have been travelling across the country and I want to assure the people of Delhi that they are not alone. The 140 crore people of India are with them," he said.

Delhi is the first city to be attacked and they will bring such ordinances for Rajasthan and other states too, the AAP leader claimed.

On the arrests of AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, he said they were arrested in order to stop work in the national capital.

"We don't have one Manish Sisodia, we have hundreds of Manish Sisodias; we don't have one Satyendar Jain, we have hundreds of Satyendar Jains. The work of development in Delhi won't stop," Kejriwal said.

"When PM Modi says that he does not accept the decision of the Supreme Court, then it is called Hitlerism. Modi ji's black ordinance says- 'I do not believe in democracy, now dictatorship will run inside Delhi'. Now, people are not supreme, the L-G is supreme," Kejriwal said.

The rally attended by one lakh people would be the first biggest public show of strength against the Centre's ordinance bill in the national capital.

The ordinance issued by the Centre on May 19 set up a National Capital Civil Service Authority, bringing back executive control over matters related to services to its domain.

It was issued close on the heels of a Supreme Court verdict on May 11, through which the Delhi government was given the executive control over service-related matters, including transfers and postings of Delhi government officers but excluding those related to police, public order and land.
