Kejriwal: Saving Constitution More Important Than Avoiding Jail

In a fervent appeal to the electorate, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal underscored the significance of the INDIA bloc in propelling the nation forward, should they secure governance at the Centre. Addressing supporters during roadshows in Delhi, Kejriwal, alongside Congress candidates, emphasized the alliance's commitment to safeguarding the Constitution and terminating autocratic governance. The AAP and Congress, collaborating under a seat-sharing pact for the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, have delineated their candidature across the seven parliamentary seats, with AAP contesting four and Congress three.

Constitution Over Jail for Kejriwal

Kejriwal's assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not return to power post-June 4 was backed by his claims of a nationwide reduction in BJP's seats. His statements were made amidst roadshows at Model Town and Jahangirpuri in support of Congress candidates JP Agarwal and Udit Raj for the Chandni Chowk and Northwest Delhi Lok Sabha seats, respectively. The AAP leader's commitment to the country's progress and constitutional preservation was highlighted as he addressed potential repercussions of his political stance, including imprisonment.

Controversy touched Kejriwal's campaign trail with allegations against his personal assistant Bibhav Kumar for misconduct towards AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member Swati Malliwal. This incident was acknowledged by AAP amidst protests during Kejriwal's roadshow in Chandni Chowk. Furthermore, Kejriwal's recent release from Tihar Jail on interim bail by the Supreme Court was mentioned, linking his arrest to his opposition by BJP.

Kejriwal leveraged his incarceration narrative to rally support against BJP, urging voters to reject the lotus symbol in favor of INDIA bloc candidates. He attributed his arrest to his administration's achievements in education and healthcare in Delhi. The AAP convener also accused BJP of harboring plans to dismantle reservation systems and alter the Constitution, framing the election as a pivotal moment for democracy and governance in India.

The electoral battle in Delhi is set against a backdrop of significant claims by Kejriwal regarding BJP's diminishing stronghold across various states. With polling scheduled for June 25 in Delhi, as part of the six-round general elections, Kejriwal's discourse extends beyond local governance achievements to encompass broader national concerns over constitutional integrity and democratic principles.

Kejriwal's narrative combines personal legal challenges with a broader political critique, positioning the INDIA bloc as a crucial counterforce to BJP's alleged autocratic tendencies and constitutional threats. As Delhi prepares to vote, the stakes are articulated not just in terms of local development but the future trajectory of India's democratic and constitutional framework.
