The Char Dham Yatra includes visits to four sacred temples: Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. The journey starts with the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples on April 30, 2025. These temples honour Goddess Ganga and Goddess Yamunotri respectively.

Opening Dates for Sacred Temples

The auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya marks the opening of the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples. Following this, Kedarnath opens on May 2 and Badrinath on May 4. Each temple is dedicated to a different deity: Lord Shiva at Kedarnath and Lord Vishnu at Badrinath.

The decision for Kedarnath's opening date was made during Mahashivratri on February 26 after rituals at Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath. This annual pilgrimage attracts thousands of devotees eager to visit these holy sites nestled in the Himalayas.
