Hyderabad, Feb 2: K Chandrasekara Rao's vaastu obsession is all set to cost the state of Telangana, Rs 150 crore. The vaastu and astrologer obsession is nothing new in political circles and we have seen several politicians in the past changing buildings and their own names to make it more vaastu and luck compliant.

K Chandrasekara Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana is however not bogged down by the criticism he is getting for shifting the state's secretariat to a new location by spending Rs 150 crore. It is a new state which is in the need of funds and this move comes as a shocker to many.

KCR

The vaastu mania:

KCR says that the existing secretariat has no luck. Working from the existing building at the Tank Bund has led to a lot of complications and things have not panned out exactly the way he would have hoped they would have.

The plan on hand is to shift it to Erragadda which is around 11 kilometres away from the existing location. This decision was taken after consulting with several astrologers and vaastu specialists.

KCR however has every reason to believe that complying with the what the astrologers say has paid good dividends for him.

Even during his campaigning he was in regular touch with astrologers who had told him his lucky number was six. He followed that and went on to win comfortably thus installing the first government in the newly created state.

He even had changes made to his home and all his convoy registration numbers have been changed to 6666 as per the advise given to him by his astrologer. Further his vehicles were also painted white from black as per his astrologer's advise.

Troubled Chief Ministers:

KCR after consulting with his astrologers decided to shift the secretariat building all together. There were attempts made to make changes within the premises, but his astrologers were not convinced. He was told that every chief minister has faced hurdles while operating from the existing building.

N T Rama Rao was overthrown by Chandrababu Naidu while the latter was defeated unexpectedly by Y S Rajasekara Reddy of the Congress. Rajasekara Reddy died in an chopper crash after his first term while his successor, K Rosiah barely managed to complete his term with so much dissidence in the Congress. Even Kiran Kumar Reddy who succeeded Rosaiah did not have a smooth run.

Superstitious leaders:

J Jayalalithaa is a known follower of astrology although she denies it in public. Back in 2001 an astrologer had predicted that she would return to power and since then she has been an ardent believer of astrology.

Many say that every step that she takes first goes through an astrologer. Even when she was jailed recently in the disproportionate assets case, she had sent a list of four persons to take over as CM to her astrologer. It was only when the astrologer pointed out that Paneerselvam posed the least threat to her did she go ahead and okay his name.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa too is a staunch believer of astrology. He had changed his name from Yeddiyurappa to Yeddyurappa following advise from an astrologer. His visits to temples and mutts before every major event were also covered largely in the media during his days as the CM of Karnataka.
