Katra To Srinagar In Just 3 Hours: PM Modi To Flag Off Vande Bharat Express

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the much-anticipated Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train on Friday, June 6. Following the inauguration, the train will begin commercial operations from Saturday, June 7, as confirmed by Northern Railway on Thursday.

Ticket bookings for the service will go live on the IRCTC platform shortly after the official launch, an official stated.

Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express: Schedule and Stoppages

Northern Railway has introduced two sets of Vande Bharat trains on the Katra-Srinagar-Katra route: Train Nos. 26404/26403 and 26401/26402. Each day, these semi-high-speed trains will make four journeys between the two destinations, with a halt at Banihal.

The first train departs from Katra at 8:10 am and reaches Srinagar by 11:08 am. It will make the return trip from Srinagar at 2:00 pm, arriving back in Katra at 4:58 pm. This particular service will not run on Tuesdays.

The second service leaves Katra at 2:55 pm and reaches Srinagar at 5:53 pm. The return journey from Srinagar will start the next morning at 8:00 am. This train will not operate on Wednesdays.

Currently, Banihal is the only stop between Katra and Srinagar. However, officials noted that additional halts may be considered in the future based on demand and operational feasibility.

Vande Bharat Fare Between Katra and Srinagar

The Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express offers two classes of travel - AC Chair Car and Executive Chair Car. As per Northern Railway, the ticket price for the AC Chair Car is ₹715, while the fare for the Executive Chair Car is ₹1,320.

Each coach is equipped with modern passenger amenities to provide a comfortable and efficient travel experience through the scenic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
