Kashmir suicide bomber case turns out to a hoax
The Pune girl who was detained on the suspicion that she was a suicide bomber has been released by the Jammu and Kashmir police. It was found during the investigation that the girl said to be allegedly radicalised by the Islamic State had reached Kashmir to marry a local boy. They had met on the social media.
The detention was a clear case of misinterpretation of an intelligence alert by the Central agencies. The case was dismissed as a hoax following investigation.
She was questioned by the police for 10 days at the Rambagh women police station. During the probe nothing incriminating was found on her. She was allowed to leave with her mother after it was found that the suicide bomber theory was a hoax.
When she was detained ahead of Republic Day, it was alleged that she had arrived in the Valley with an intention of carrying out a blast. The Kashmir range Inspector General, Muneer Khan had said that it would be premature to declare her as a suicide bomber without proper investigation. The Maharashtra police too had said that there was no case registered against.
