Union Minister Jitendra Singh Predicts Regret Over Exodus of Kashmiri Pandits by Muslims in Kashmir

Union Minister Jitendra Singh expressed that the absence of Kashmiri Pandits leaves Kashmir incomplete. He believes the majority community in Kashmir will eventually regret their exodus. Singh highlighted the significant positive changes in Jammu and Kashmir since Article 370's abrogation, noting that many, including Kashmiri Muslims, are pleased with these developments.

Singh emphasised the importance of restoring Kashmir's unique composite culture. He recalled discussions with Kashmiri Pandit intellectuals in the 1990s, who maintained the Valley's heritage by living harmoniously with other communities. "Kashmir is no longer Kashmir without the presence of Kashmiri Pandits," he stated during a recent event.

Kashmir's Cultural Heritage and Education Reforms

The minister inaugurated the Mata Saraswati Auditorium at Gandhi Memorial College. He remarked on the fading values of composite upbringing, which were once imparted to children but are now being realised after several generations. Singh reiterated his belief that the majority community would soon regret the Pandits' exodus.

Discussing education reforms, Singh highlighted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This policy aims to free students from choices imposed by parents or peers, allowing them to pursue higher education aligned with their talents. He urged teachers to nurture students' inherent abilities for nation-building.

Singh noted that India is on par with other nations in education, science, technology, and start-ups. He encouraged teachers to motivate students to use technology for knowledge acquisition, pointing out that affordable educational resources are now widely available.

Economic Opportunities and Start-Up Initiatives

The minister called for exploring Himalayan bio-resources, which could significantly boost India's economy. He urged teachers to inspire students to consider start-up initiatives as new self-employment opportunities. Singh announced government plans to organise start-up exhibitions nationwide to raise awareness.

One such exhibition is scheduled for Srinagar soon. Singh believes these efforts will encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among students, contributing to economic growth and development.
