The protest rally began at Town Hall around 10 am to culminate at Freedom Park and turn into a sit-in dharna, where leaders and elders from the community will address the gathering.

Various organisations such as Rajput Samaj Karnataka, Akhil Bharatiya Ekta Manch, Maharana Pratap Navayuvak Mandal, Rajput Parishad, Rajput Sabha, Kshatriya Mahasabha and others have participated in the rally to register their protest.

The protestors believe that the movie is an attempt to tarnish the rich heritage and culture of the erstwhile Rajputana.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA & head of Film Studio Setting & Allied Majdoor Union, Ram Kadam has threatened that if If Bhansali doesn't agree, our union won't let him shoot any film.

Bhansali has been facing trouble since he started shooting for the movie. The set of the movie was vandalised twice -- in Jaipur and Kolhapur -- and the director was roughed up by members of Karni Sena during the Jaipur schedule of the film earlier this year.

Rajput groups and some BJP members have accused Bhansali of distorting facts in the movie, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. The film is scheduled to be released on December 1.
