The Election Commission has launched an application called Chunavana to help voters in Karnataka locate their nearest polling booth and even register their names in the electoral rolls. It is an Android-based mobile application.
The application was launched on a pilot basis in mid-April and was based on the feedback received from the people. People can also access the web-based version of the application. The application was launched by a chief electoral officer of Karnataka, Sanjeev Kumar.
M Jayachandran, project director, Karnataka State Remote Sensing Applications Centre, said at present, the Android version has been launched and in the coming days, the IOS version will also be launched. "All the 56,696 polling booths have been mapped in the app, so also the boundaries of all 224 constituencies," he further said.
