Karnataka polls: Congress promises to scrap 'unscientific' NEP if voted to power
The Congress on Tuesday promised to scrap the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 if voted to power.
In its election manifesto for Karnataka, Congress termed the NEP as 'unscientific' and assured that it would be scrapped and replaced with Karnataka Education Policy.

"Unscientific National Educational Policy will be scrapped and Karnataka Educational Police will be introduced," the Congress stated in its manifesto.
The party also vowed to restore 'distorted' chapters of prominent personalities.
"The BJP government has distorted the textbooks by insulting the great souls of Karnataka like Vishwa Guru Basavanna and Rashtrakavi Kuvempu. The congress will restore the true values of Bharath and Karnataka and Scientific Temper in the textbooks to make the students evolve and complete," the manifesto read.
Notably, the BJP-led Karnataka government has promised to implement NEP 2020, in early childhood care and pre-primary stage, in 20,000 Anganwadi/schools from November 2022 across the state.

"NEP has been changed to 'Nagpur Education Policy'. I am confident that in the next Assembly polls, people will vote for Congress and will scrap their education policy and political agenda. They want to change history," DK Shivakumar was quoted as saying by ANI.
"I am confident that in next Assembly polls, people will vote for Congress and we will scrap their education policy and political agenda. They want to change the history filled with their personal agenda," he added.
