Karnataka leaders leave Cauvery issue behind, pay tributes to Jayalalithaa

Former Prime Minister of India and JD(S) supremo H D Devegowda headed to Chennai to pay tributes to a leader who he saw as someone with great potential to lead the Third Front.

Going beyond rivalry over the Cauvery water sharing issue, political leaders from Karnataka headed to Chennai to pay their tributes to J Jayalalithaa. Leaders including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condoled the death of the enigmatic leader and headed to Chennai to personally pay tribute.

JD(S) leaders from Mandya even proposed reserving one acre land in Jayalalithaa's birthplace Melukote to build a memorial for her.

Congress leader and Karnataka's energey Minister D K Shivakumar too headed to Chennai to pay his last respects to Jayalalithaa. D K Shivakumar remembered her as his inspiration from younger days and recalled her interest in erecting a memorial at Sri Perumbudur where Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated.
