Karnataka votes today and the the electorate will decide the fortunes of many. There are over 2,000 candidates in the fray. The battle is primarily between Siddaramaiah and Yeddyurappa. H D Kumaraswamy would look to play kingmaker in the event of a hung assembly.

Siddaramaiah: He is contesting from Chamundeswhari and Badami. He will look to create history by getting elected for a second term as Chief Minister.
B S Yeddyurappa: He is contesting from Shikharipura. He will look to return as the CM of Karnataka. He was the chief minister between 2008 and 2011.
H D Kumaraswamy: He is contesting from Ramanagara and Channapatna. The son of former prime minister, H D Deve Gowda, he was the CM of Karnataka between 2006 and 2008.
B Sriramulu: He is contesting on a BJP ticket from Molakmuru and Badami. In Badami he is in a tough fight with Siddaramaiah.
Dr. G Parameshwar: The KPCC president is fighting from Koratagere. In 2013, he lost the seat as a result of which he lost out the CM's post.
Laxmi Hebbalkar: She will be contesting on a Congress ticket from Belagavi Rural. She is the president of the party's women's wing in Karnataka.
K S Eshwarappa: He is contesting on a BJP ticket from Shivamogga. He is the leader of the opposition in the Karnataka legislative council.
G Karunakara Reddy: The eldest of the Reddy brothers, he is contesting on a BJP ticket from Harapanahalli.
Dr Yathindra: The son of Siddaramaiah will be making his political debut this year. He is fighting from Varuna, the seat his father vacated this time.
Madhu Bangarappa: The son of former chief minister, S Bangarappa, he would be contesting on a JD(S) ticket from Soraba.
