Karnataka Elections: Congress Vote Share At 44.4%
Trends in Karnataka show that the Congress has put up an impressive show. The party looks to be heading towards a majority in the 224 member assembly where the magic number is 113.
The counting of votes began at 8 am on Saturday.

While trends in the morning showed the BJP in the lead, later on the trends changed and the Congress surged ahead. Celebrations are already underway in several Congress offices across the country.
Trends showed that the Congress led by Mallikarjun Kharge was leading the polls with a 44.4 per cent vote share. The BJP on the other hand recorded a vote share of 37.4 per cent as of 9.30 am.
The vote share of the JD(S) on the other hand was 10.5 per cent, according to official data on the Election Commission of India.
The counting of votes across 36 centres began amidst tight security.

The top leaders who are counting the elections include Basvaraj Bommai, Siddaramaiah, D K Shivakumar and H D Kumaraswamy.
The state recorded a 73.19 per cent turnout on election day. Elections in the state were held on May 10.
In the 2018 elections, the Congress had a vote share of 38.04 per cent while in the case of the BJP it as 36.22 per cent. The JD(S) in that same year had recorded a vote share of 18.36 per cent.
