Karnataka Elections 2018: Congress sets deadline to Ambareesh

Former Minister MH Ambareesh has been given a deadline by Congress party to decide on his contest from Mandya assembly constituency. Ambareesh, actor-turned-politician is a prominent Vokkaliga face in the Congress party. Ambareesh has not collected the B-form yet, though his name was announced in the first list.

KPCC G Parameshwara, who is in Korategere to file his nomination papers and CM Siddramaiah are likely to meet today afternoon to take a call on Ambareesh's candidature. According to reports, CM Siddramaiah, who is in Davanagere, made a call to Ambareesh, but the latter was not available.

However, Ambareesh reportedly said that he did not wish to contest the upcoming assembly elections. He has asked the KPCC chief, Dr. Parameshwar to offer the ticket to his associate, Amaravathi Chandrashekhar.

Amaravathi Chandrashekhar has been a close associate of Ambareesh for the last 20 years.

The party leadership will take a call on the same by 3 pm.
