Cong to secure sound win in Karnataka polls, predicts pre-poll survey

With barely four weeks left for polling day, a pre-poll survey conducted by 'Lok Poll' has predicted that the Congress is all set to secure a handsome victory in the upcoming Karnataka assembly election 2023. The survey indicates that Congress had improved its position from similar survey made in the month of February and BJP has gone down further in numbers.

Karnataka election 2023: Congress to secure handsome victory, predicts pre-poll survey

The opinion poll by 'Lok Poll', based on survey of over 65,000 respondents across various districts of the state, predicted that the Congress will win 128-131 seats with a vote share of 42-45 per cent. The BJP is expected to get 66-69 seats with vote share of 30-33 per cent while JDS is predicted to get 21-25 seats with vote share of 15-18 per cent and others might get 1-4 seats with vote share of 6-9 per cent.

According to the pre-poll survey, BJP's tally will be powered by a good performance in Kittur Karnataka region and sustaining its domination in coastal Karnataka though the party is expected to suffer significant reverses in Central Karnataka that it swept in 2018 state assembly elections.

In the Kittur Karnataka region, the BJP is expected to maintain its strong presence with 21-23 seats, Congress 26-28 and JDS 0-1.

In the Kalyana Karnataka region too, Congress is predicted to get a maximum number of seats of 27-30. BJP is expected to get 8-11, JDS 0-2 and others 0-2.

In Bengaluru, Congress is expected to get 22-24, BJP 9-11 and JDS 1-4.

In coastal Karnataka, the ruling BJP is expected to put up a good show with 14-16 seats, Congress 8-10 and JDS 0-1.

In central Karnataka, BJP is expected to get 10-12 seats, Congress 9-11 and JDS 0-1.

In Old Mysuru region, the Lok Poll opinion poll predicted BJP is likely to make inroads and is expected to get 9-11 seats while the Congress is predicted to get a maximum of 27-30 seats and JDS might get 20-22 seats. In 2018 Assembly polls, the JD(S) had bagged as many as 27 seats in region, while the Congress and BJP won 17 and 11 seats, respectively.
