Karnataka effect: Now Goa Congress stakes claim to form govt

While Karnataka continues to provides twists every minute, there is one playing out in Goa. Now the Goa Congress MLAs numbering 16 would march to Raj Bhavan on Friday and stake a claim to form the government.

They would be citing the Karnataka case where the Governor invited the BJP to form the government on the ground that it was the single largest party. The Goa Congress has lost the race to the BJP following the elections.

The BJP which was not the single largest party in Goa forged an alliance with the MGP and formed the government. The Goa Congress despite being the single largest party was unable to form the government in the state.

When the BJP staked a claim in Karnataka to form the government, the Congress and JD(S) cited the Goa example. The new found alliance partners said that in Goa the single largest party was not invited to form the government. The BJP however countered that by stating that the Congress in Goa never staked a claim.
