Karnataka: Another DySP commits suicide, names minister KJ George
Bengaluru, July 7: Two days after Kallappa Handibag committed suicide in Belagavi, another deputy superintendent of police (DySP) has taken extreme step. Reportedly DySP M K Ganapati committed suicide in a lodge in Madikeri on Thursday.
Media reports say that 51 year old cop hanged himself from a ceiling fan in Vinayak lodge. Police has also recovered a suicide note where Ganapati blamed senior politicians and police officers for his extreme step.
Reports says deceased cop specifically mentioned Bengaluru Development and Town Planning Minister KJ George and his son Rana George's name for driving him to death.
"We found the body of Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K.Ganapathy, 51, hanging from a ceiling fan in a lodge room. He was in uniform with service revolver around the waist," Kodagu's Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad said.
Currently he was posted at office of IGP (Western Range) in Mangaluru. During infamous 2008 church attack, he had served as Police Inspector in Mangaluru East police station.
This is the second such incident to take place in the state this week. Two days back Chikkamagaluru rural Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalappa Handibagh, 34, hanged himself at his in-law's Belagavi.
"We have registered a case of unnatural death and informed Ganapathy's family. We will investigate what forced him to take his life, as a suicide note has been found in the lodge room," Prasad said.
Ganapathy was transferred to Mangaluru inspector general police office in May.
