Karnataka CM's son ill, hospitalised in Belgium

Bengaluru, July 27: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son Rakesh has fallen ill while on an European tour and has been hospitalised in Belgium, the CM's social media managers tweeted on his official account on Wednesday.

Siddarmaiah is said to have reached out to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, seeking assistance. His wife and two doctors from Bengaluru are said to have left for Belgium.

There was speculation, however, about exactly what had befallen Rakesh, the controversial son whom Siddaramaiah is said to be keen to bring into politics. While some reports said he was involved in a road accident and was critical, other reports suggested he had a pancreatic ailment.

On Twitter, the CM's social media team only said that Rakesh had fallen ill but was recovering.
