Karnataka bandh: What will happen on Saturday, April 18
Bengaluru, Apr 17: Normal life in Karnataka is likely to be disrupted on Saturday, April 18 as pro-Kannada organisations have called for a state-wide bandh.
The dawn to dusk bandh has been called to protest against the Mekedatu drinking water project across the Cauvery river.
All business establishments and educational institutions are expected to remain shut. Essential services such as milk supply, hospitals are exempted from the strike.

Bandh gets huge support
More than 500 organisations have extended their support to the bandh. President of Okkuta, Vatal Nagaraj said that the bandh also have the supported of auto drivers and truck unions

Police heighten security
City police have heightened security arrangements in City.
"No disturbance to law and order will be tolerated and stringent action will be taken against anybody indulging in stoning or forcing anybody to participate in the bandh," said Police Commissioner M.N. Reddi

Essentials exempted from state bandh

Protesters will submit memorandum to Chief Minister
The dawn to dust bandh has been called to protest against the Mekedatu drinking water project across the Cauvery river.The protesters will take out a rally from the Town Hall to the Freedom Park in Bengaluru.

The protesters will take out a rally from the Town Hall to the Freedom Park in Bengaluru. They will also submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister, requesting him to launch the project at the earliest.
Nagaraj said that the bandh will be marked by peaceful rallies in various parts of the state
