Kargil Chronicles: Day 3 Of Epic Motorcycle Expedition Honouring Fallen Kargil Heroes
The following day, the journey continued to Baramulla for the "Kargil Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav." The Chinar Corps Commander ceremoniously flagged in the 101-bike rally at the General Bipin Rawat Stadium, highlighting the Army's close ties with the general populace and their impactful presence in everyday life.
During the ceremony, students from army goodwill schools were awarded for their outstanding performances across Baramulla, acknowledging their achievements and nurturing their talents. The event also honoured Veer Naris and Veer Matas, the wives and mothers of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. Their presence added a poignant and emotional dimension to the ceremony, reminding everyone of the immense sacrifices made by the families of our soldiers.

From Baramulla, the journey continued towards Kaman Aman Setu, with a mandatory stop at the Dagger Division War Memorial. Here, the 101 riders paid their respects to the heroes of the Indian Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice. Adjacent to the war memorial stands a serene temple where the riders took a moment to reflect, a stark contrast to the battlefields they were commemorating.

As they navigated the winding roads along the river Jhelum leading to Kaman Aman Setu, Vishal Batra, the twin brother of the legendary Captain Vikram Batra, was visibly moved by the journey. Nearing Kaman Aman Setu, children in colourful attire greeted the riders with Indian flags, symbolizing the hope and future that the soldiers had fought to protect.

At Kaman Aman Setu, the riders spent time with armed forces members stationed at the bridge, a crucial link between India and Pakistan that once facilitated the movement of people and goods across the Line of Control (LoC).

The bravery of Indian soldiers during the Kargil War, fought amidst treacherous terrain and unforgiving conditions, is etched into the history of the Indian military. This ride serves as a powerful reminder of the valor and resilience of our armed forces. Jai Hind.
