Upon opening the door, he discovered Hardip gravely injured. In desperation, he rushed him to Jalandhar’s civil hospital where doctors pronounced Hardip dead on arrival.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed grave concern over what he referred to as a "jungle raj" prevailing in Punjab.
