Clash Between Kanwariyas in Gurugram Ends in Six Injuries

Two groups of dak kanwariyas clashed in Prem Nagar Colony after exchanging threats over a DJ altercation, police reported on Friday. Six kanwariyas were injured, with three receiving hospital treatment and the others discharged after first-aid.

The conflict originated from a July 27 altercation between groups from Rajiv Nagar and Prem Nagar's slum area over a DJ. Although the issue was initially resolved, both groups had threatened to settle scores at the end of the kanwar yatra, according to police.

Kanwariyas Clash Over DJ Dispute

Around 8:30 am on Friday, one group was returning from offering water at a temple when they were attacked by kanwariyas from the other group. The ensuing melee involved stone-pelting and resulted in damage to some vehicles, police said.

Upon being informed of the clash, police arrived at the scene and dispersed the mobs. No complaints have been lodged by either group regarding the incident.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Surender Phogat stated, "We are trying to identify the accused with the help of CCTV camera footage. Strict action will be taken against the accused."
