Kanpur police launch search on places selling spurious liquor

Kanpur, Jan 13: In the wake of hooch tragedy in Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur police today started a search operation to find places selling spurious liquor in the district.

SP (City) Rohit Mishra said police teams have been formed and are conducting searches at far flung places in the district. Areas near the bank of Ganga river are covered under this operation, he said, adding that search was also being conducted at several localities from where spurious liquor was caught before.

Search is also being conducted at liquor shops in the city and areas like Ghantaghar, railway station, Naubasta, the SP informed, and added that the operation will continue for several days. The toll in the hooch tragedy in Lucknow and Unnao districts climbed to 27 today.
