Kannada to replace all languages in all government forms in Karnataka?

Bengaluru, Mar 15: If reports are to be believed then Kannada is going to replace all languages in all government forms in Karnataka.

According to reports, Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has asked the government to implement Kannada as the official language of administration. Hence government forms in the state may soon be entirely in Kannada. Currently government applications can be filled in Kannada, English or, in some cases, Hindi.

Kar: All govt forms in Kannada?

"This era of migration is threatening our language. Hence, the move," KDA chairperson Hanumanthaiah was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

KDA's recommendation to make Kannada a compulsory subject in professional courses at the graduate level has been approved by the government. The recommendation is likely to come into effect from coming academic year.
