Kangana Ranaut, Actor Turned Politician, Slapped With Another Legal Notice; Know The Reason Here

Bollywood actress and BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut, received another legal notice on Tuesday. An Agra court has issued a notice against her concerning allegations of sedition and defamation of farmers. The Special MP-MLA Court in Agra has ordered Kangana to respond to the notice regarding her comments on the farmers' protest and Mahatma Gandhi.

The case was initiated by Advocate Ramashankar Sharma in the Special MP-MLA Court. During a hearing on Tuesday, the court instructed Kangana to present her side. Advocate Sharma stated, "I had filed a case against BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the MP-MLA Special Court." He mentioned that on August 27, 2024, they read one of her statements addressing various issues including the farmers' movement.

Legal Proceedings Against Kangana

On September 11, 2024, Ramashankar Sharma, President of Rajiv Gandhi Bar Association in Agra, filed a suit against Kangana. The suit highlighted a statement she made on August 27, 2024. In it, she claimed that between August 2020 and December 2021, protests at Delhi's border involved murders and rapes. She suggested that without strong leadership, India could have faced conditions similar to Bangladesh.

Kangana's remarks about the farmers' protest and Mahatma Gandhi in 2021 stirred controversy. She stated that turning the other cheek is akin to begging rather than achieving freedom. Furthermore, she claimed that India's true independence came after 2014. Regarding the farmers' protests against agricultural laws, she accused Khalistani terrorists of involvement.

Controversial Statements

Kangana's statements led to significant backlash. Her comments about farmers being murderers and rapists were particularly contentious. Advocate Sharma accused her of insulting millions of Indian farmers by labeling them as extremists.

The court has now sought a response from Kangana through this notice. Her statements have not only sparked legal action but also widespread opposition from various groups across the country.
