Kanakapura Election Results 2023: Who Is The Winner?

Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar has emerged victorious in the Kanakapura seat again. This time by a record margin of 1,22,392 votes.

DK Shivakumar secured 1,43,023 votes (including postal ballot votes). JDS candidate Nagaraju got 20,631 votes while BJP's R Ashoka secured just 19,753.

The Congress state chief has secured over 71 per cent votes, according to the Election Commission data.

Kanakapura Constituency has been a stronghold of Congress and the result has not come as a surprise. DK Shivakumar had earlier won the seat in 2008, 2013 and 2018 polls.

In 2018, DK Shivakumar had defeated JDS candidate Narayana Gowda by a margin of 79,909 votes.

However, the margin in which DK Shivakumar has won clearly indicates that his popularity is unshakeable in Kanakapura. It has to be noted that he is also in the CM race along with Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara.
