Kamlesh Paswan Becomes MoS After Fourth Consecutive Lok Sabha Victory

In a significant political development, Kamlesh Paswan, following the legacy of his late father, has been sworn in as a Union Minister of State (MoS), marking his ascent to a higher echelon of Indian politics. This event comes after Paswan secured his fourth consecutive victory from the Bansgaon SC Lok Sabha seat in the recent elections, continuing the political lineage established by his family.

Paswan Sworn in as MoS

At 47 years old, Paswan, representing the Pasi community, achieved a narrow victory over Sadal Prasad from the Congress party by a margin of over 3,000 votes. The Bansgaon constituency, known for its diverse assembly segments including Bansgaon SC, Chauri Chaura, Chillupar in Gorakhpur district, and Rudrapur and Barhaj in the adjacent Deoria district, has been a stronghold for Paswan's political career.

The political journey of Kamlesh Paswan is deeply intertwined with his family's history. His mother, Subhawati Devi, served as a Lok Sabha MP for Bansgaon SC in the 11th Lok Sabha. His father, Om Prakash Paswan, a notable politician assassinated in 1996, had served as an MLA for the Maniram assembly constituency across various terms and parties including Hindu Mahasabha and BJP. Following his father's untimely demise, Kamlesh's uncle Chandresh Paswan took over the legislative mantle as an MLA from Maniram on an SP ticket.

Kamlesh Paswan himself is no stranger to legislative responsibilities, having served as an MLA for Maniram from 2002 to 2007 under the SP banner. Beyond politics, Paswan is also a businessman with an academic background in political science from DDU Gorakhpur University. His interests extend to sports, reflecting a well-rounded personality.

The political narrative of the Paswan family further extends through Kamlesh's younger brother Vimlesh Paswan, who has been elected as an MLA from the Bansgaon assembly constituency in both 2017 and 2022 representing the BJP. This continued electoral success underscores the family's enduring influence and commitment to their constituents.

Kamlesh Paswan's recent induction as a Union Minister of State not only signifies a personal achievement but also represents the ongoing legacy of a family deeply embedded in India's political fabric. His journey from witnessing his father's assassination at a young age to ascending the ranks of national politics is a testament to resilience and dedication towards public service.
