Kalgidhar Society Establishes 'Dr. Manmohan Singh Chair in Development Economics' at Akal University

With the sudden passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, the nation has lost a remarkable son. Renowned for his unwavering integrity, humility, and profound understanding of public policy, Dr. Singh steered the country out of economic turmoil and set it on a path of high growth and development through his liberalization policies.

In recognition of Dr. Singh's immense contributions to academia and his service to society and the nation, The Kalgidhar Society - Baru Sahib has decided to establish the 'Dr. Manmohan Singh Chair in Development Economics' at Akal University, Talwandi Sabo (Punjab). This chair will undertake advanced research on his visionary ideas, fostering a deeper understanding of economic development and inspiring future generations to follow in his footsteps.

About The Kalgidhar Society

The Kalgidhar Society, also known as Baru Sahib, is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing quality, low-cost education through 130 Akal Academies, healthcare, and social welfare. Founded with the vision of socio-economic upliftment, the society has been instrumental in transforming rural areas in North India through its various initiatives. The Kalgidhar Society operates the largest women empowerment initiative with free teacher training for rural girls, numerous educational institutions, including two universities, healthcare facilities, and social service projects, all aimed at creating a better and more equitable society.
