Kala Utsav 2016 celebrates unity in diversity
The theme of the Kala Utsav is ‘Living traditions of tribal, folk and traditional arts of different regions'.
New Delhi, Nov 18 Kala Utsav 2016 was inaugurated by Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar on the 15th November. The four-day festival is to end today with minister distributing the awards at 4 pm.

The theme of the Kala Utsav is 'Living traditions of tribal, folk and traditional arts of different regions'. The aim of the Kala Utsav is to bring to forefront the gradually fading performing and visual arts.
Though these art forms are in the category of our living traditions at present, but if not given due attention, these might disappear in due course of time.
While inaugurating the Kala Utsav Prakash Javadekar had said that, "Every child is born with some or the other talent and artistic propensity. However, education gives an impetus to fructify their artistic propensities".
He had further added that, "Diversity gives an identity to the people and here lies the strength of the nation because our sentiments and emotions are one. Interests of the nation are uppermost in our heart".
Javadekar had also said that, "Students have come at the national level competition after coming out successful at the district and State levels. This in itself was a prize for the individuals and the teams, he said. At the end, the very talented jury would dispassionately judge the performance of each team and adjudge the best out of the best teams of students".
