Kairana assembly bypoll: Public holiday announced on poll day

Muzaffarnagar, Oct 5: District authorities today announced a public holiday in Kairana assembly constituency on October 15, for the assembly bypoll to be held here.

All government offices, shops and business establishments would remain closed on the polling day to facilitate the casting of vote, District Magistrate Shamli, N P Singh told media here.

A hundred polling teams have also been constituted for the 275 polling booths and the counting will take place on October 19.

There are eight candidates including Nahid Hasan (SP), Anil Chouhan (BJP), Arshad Hasan (Congress) and five independents in the fray for the bypoll.
